About Us
My first children’s picture book was named ‘Barney Finds a New Home.’ I was inspired to write this book when my husband returned home from our local library, carrying a library book he was keen to read. Browsing through the pages of the old book, as indicated by its publication date and date stamp, it became clear that no one else had ever borrowed it from the library. This made me feel sad, as I thought how a human, under similar circumstances, would feel if ignored and left alone. This first Bookling then grew into a series of Booklings and Friends, with distinct personalities and different stories to tell. By creating animated books, I hope that each Bookling will encourage children to enjoy reading from an early age and continue to love books as they grow into adulthood.
I loved art at school, so during the pandemic I dabbled with the Procreate package on my computer to create a set of illustrations in bold colours, with a humorous slant that I hope children will love. I developed my own style to best depict the stories told in both the Booklings and their Friends.
My dog Rosie, a Cavalier King Charles spaniel, inspired me to write and illustrate children’s’ animal books (A Puppy Named Piddles, and Poopsy and the Gigantic Poo Mountain). At first, I was reluctant to write another doggie book as there are so many children’s books written about all kinds of animals. However, to make my doggie stories different, I based them on Rosie and her quirky habits. If I can make my little readers smile, as well as enjoy reading my stories over and over, again then I have achieved my goal as a writer.
